Derby Day Ends In A Draw

Today the 215th Merseyside Derby ended in a 2-2 draw after 68th minute penalty from Dirk Kuyt sealed a point for Liverpool, who were unlucky not to take all 3 points.

Before the game Kenny Dalglish enjoyed a great reception as his name rang around the stadium, and was followed by a passionate chant of "You'll Never Walk Alone".

He looked on course to secure his first victory as Liverpool manager in his 3rd game when Meireles struck on the 29th minute after Dirk Kuyt had 2 shots saved.

However, two goals in seven second-half minutes from Sylvain Distin and Jermaine Beckford turned the game on its head and put David Moyes's men in sight of their first derby double since their 1984-85 title-winning campaign until Kuyt fired in a 68th minute leveller from the spot.

It means Liverpool drop to 13th place in the Premier League, a worrying just four points from relegation.

Liverpool's next game is away to Wolves on Saturday 22nd January, and as always can be found at http://goo.gl/zzLgr.
